Install

  1. Install the launcher and run setup. See Install and setup for requirements.

    npm install -g @opscanvas/opscanvas
    opscanvas setup
  2. Setup finds Claude Cowork on your computer and registers OpsCanvas with it at the user level.

  3. Start a new Claude Cowork session. A session that was already open during setup will not see OpsCanvas until you start a new one.

Once OpsCanvas is listed in the Claude directory, you will also be able to install it from there. Until then, use the steps above.

Confirm it is working

  • Ask: “What OpsCanvas tools do you have?” Claude Cowork should list the OpsCanvas tools.
  • In a terminal, run opscanvas service status to confirm the background process is running.

Three prompts to start

  1. “Map my cloud and tell me what runs in production, by account and environment.”
  2. “What depends on [a service or database you know], and what would break if I changed it?”
  3. “Which resources have no clear owner, and what do they cost each month?”

OpsCanvas is read only in the current release. It answers from your Cloud Intelligence Graph™ and proposes changes for you to approve; it does not change your cloud.
